All that aside, people, stop adding prepositions indiscriminately.
You print something (not print it off)
You paint something (not paint it out)
Cut it out, yo.
Also, welcome back Twinnie!!!!
Roth IRA is my new boyfriend.
So I was all over the web today trying to figure out if there was a combo limit of what I can contribute to a 401k and a Roth IRA, and in my net search, I found out a few things about a Roth IRA.
1. its not like a traditional IRA in that once you put the moola in there, its a penalty to withdraw (you can’t touch the interest, but you can touch the stuff you originally put in).
2. After you’ve had one for 5 years and it has enough in it, you can borrow as much as 10k from it for a down payment on your primary residence.
OK, why didn’t anyone tell me this? No one EVER mentioned that a Roth IRA is more reasonable than even a CD because with a CD it is inaccessible for the duration of the period you selected. The Roth IRA is available to you the whole time… which covers your emergency stash requirements.
Now I need to rearrange my whole list of things to do next year (no, I am NOT calling them resolutions-that’s just an invitation to break them.)
Bless my little mercenary heart, money is FUN!
Now what I have to figure out is whether I can max out for 2007 by April 2008 and then still max out for 2008, I suspect the answer is no (and I also suspect that the answer is “not if you want to eat this year”).
One other thing, I was planning to go to Paris in 2008, but I thought it rather indicative that I was relieved in my decision not to go as I was doing the “year of the cheap bastard” and I will just go in 2009 and have my canards suitably in a row by then.
When you are allowed to be a “(country here)/American”
When you are born in another country/continent, for example Africa, and you come to the U.S. and become a citizen, then you are an “African American”.
If you are trying to use that phrase because you’re a much darker skin tone than me (and that isn’t difficult, but frankly I think ‘black’ and ‘white’ are misnomers (except in my case, I fluoresce) and I’m trying to avoid those terms) but in that case, you are an American. Just like me.
Maybe you can use ‘of African descent’ or of ‘Mexican descent’, but really, are you trying to separate yourself from Americans? Its fine to identify with a culture, but you are an AMERICAN.
Punto. Full stop.
