Fwd: 2005/10/31 00:23 M 4.5 WESTERN MONTANA Z= 5km 44.90N 113.45W

October 30, 2005 at 9:33 pm (oh my!, quakes)

this isn’t good because there’s a huge underground lava dome that
wouldn’t be very good for most of the north western part of the globe
if it lets loose.

I just uploaded a bunch.

Also, the recap entry is in the works, but not done by any stretch of the imagination. I’ve been filling out the astounding number of forms it takes to work for my new employer… including the ones where I promise not to pinch anyone’s tushies at the job. (I promised not to.)

We should have this in Vegas.

Boing Boing: Iran’s liberal-democratic society: “In the form of Shia Islam practised in Iran, Muslims are allowed to enter into temporary marriages with each other, sometimes lasting only a few hours. Critics say this in effect legalises prostitution, and women who enter into these sigheh contracts are often ostracised. But the practice is defended as a legal loophole to provide inheritance rights for children who would otherwise be born out of wedlock. Sigheh websites have been set up to offer advice to prospective brides and grooms…”

October 30, 2005 at 10:29 am (I'm a Leo., fredlet)

I’m an only child, a project manager and a Leo… I never stop coaching, managing and delegating. Ask my cousins.

HoustonChronicle.com – Horoscope: “LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Last week’s work may be over, but you’ll still spend some time coaching, managing and delegating — and that’s within your own family. There’s much you plan to accomplish together.”

When they talk about streaming video in this case, they mean that tears will be streaming out of your eyes while you laugh your ass off.

The Moronosphere: j-void

October 29, 2005 at 12:39 pm (JconWeeta(Pie)ConJNon, fredlet)

The Moronosphere: j-void: “I’ve always said, one of my life rules is that I’d rather regret what I did than regret what I didn’t do. That’s central to who I am and always will be. I’ll do things in life I should not, I’ll do things I need to apologize for. I’ll do things, now and then, for which I need forgiveness.”

I do the same thing.
There’s really no point in regret. You can’t go back and change the past, you just have to make certain that you don’t repeat mistakes.
Having said that, I really don’t think that Karl Elvis made a mistake by not going. He need to take care of his family and that comes first… that doesn’t mean that there weren’t about 40 or 50 disappointed people at JCon wishing he were there.

its funny…

October 28, 2005 at 9:29 pm (JconWeeta(Pie)ConJNon, fredlet, sigh)

I know that people I love love me…I’m not denying that… I’m rather thankful for that.
But I am loathe to leave them (such as my now former employer, and very recently at JCon) I know that regardless of leaving them by coming home or going to another company that I get to keep the good parts while getting rid of the bad parts.

I got your drunk dialing right here…

October 28, 2005 at 9:03 pm (fredlet, heh)

no fair yelling at me for spelling mistakes… I’m doing good to be sitting upright.
My last day of work was today and all my darling little chickens and I went to Trader Vic’s and got me FREAKIN’ hammered.
No seriously, I dont’ like to drink ,but people kept offering to buy me drinks and toating, so what could i do.
Now, I’m fighting the serious spins and hoping I can work throug h o where I’m not so disgustingluy drunk (not a state I enjoy… maudlin missing of good friends isn’t one of those states either…)
Holy crap, thank you universe for the concept of designted driver.

I’ll miss them intensely…. but not the company.

forthcoming squee…

October 26, 2005 at 9:30 pm (JconWeeta(Pie)ConJNon, fredlet, obscure reference)

I’m wrapping up this job at the current company (training the new guy and making sure all my chickens are taken care of) and I haven’t even unpacked from San Diego last week much less had time to write the requisite squee.
I promise I will.

The sound heard issuing from my lips lately (a la Prince of Tides at the end of the movie):
“WeetaPieCon…WeetaPieCon…WeetaPieCon…”

You have been warned.

Random Scribblings

October 25, 2005 at 7:17 pm (JconWeeta(Pie)ConJNon, fredlet)

Random Scribblings: “I said at one point during the weekend that JournalCon really just comes down to boobs and booze, but I was wrong. What it comes down to is conversations and sharing good meals and hanging out with your new best friends and analyzing this crazy internet writing thing we all do while trying to figure out when we will all be able to get together again because one weekend a year just isn’t enough. The booze and the boobs are just a bonus.”

I wonder if we named it boobie-con would loads of people show up? Actually I think it was just the right size this year… and Minarae (who was one of the organizers extraordinaire) did a great job of not making the panels overlap and allowing for schmooze time.
I hate thinking that I’m missing something if I want to slink off and talk to someone without booze involved.
